Banishing Charm
Wandmagic

Incantation

Dimitto Velociter

Wand Movement

Circular motion, followed by a diagonal slash

Type

Spell

Effect

Sends item away from the caster

The Banishing Charm is considered by some to be the complimentary spell to the Summoning Charm Accio. It was taught during Term 8 in Charms class by Professor Dae.

Appearance

No
The spell is cast with two distinct wand motions to pair with the two distinct words: Dimitto Velociter. As the caster says "Dimitto", he or she should draw the wand in a circle clockwise. A diagonal slash, drawn from upper right to lower left, accompanies "Velociter". See the diagram for clarification.

Left-handed wizards may find it easier to cast the circle counterclockwise so they can draw the diagonal from wandside to opposing side more easily.

Etymology

Dimitto Velociter means "I send away quickly" in Latin.
