One of several polishing spells, Poliotus was first taught in early November 2080 during Term 34 by Professor Ivy Knox. Not to be confused with Excolo (the metal polishing charm) or Vitrumonia (the glass polishing charm), this spell can be used to polish nearly every material other than metal or glass: leather, wood, tile, linoleum, etc.

Poliotus (poh-lee-OH-tus) is cast by drawing an S-shape over the desired area with one's wand while repeating the incantation.
As a reminder, Poliotus is a polishing spell and not a cleaning spell. For best results, the surface to be polished should be thoroughly cleaned by manual or magical means prior to using the polishing spell.
